BOM - Underground Railroad Sampler

The history of the Underground Railroad has always fascinated people. The legend has it that there were hidden messages in quilts that were hung outside (to “air out on the clothesline") giving escaped slaves information on their journey North to freedom in Canada. For example, the Log Cabin block was said to indicate a “safe house” for runaway slaves.  Each block tells a story, and together this sampler quilt carries on the history of those courageous people who supported freedom, and those that found it.

 This is an intermediate quilt class - students must have prior quilting experience.  We will meet for 16 monthly sessions starting in September 2024.  The first class will be for planning and reviewing the pattern book, and the next 15 sessions will be dedicated to completing the 15 different blocks in this sampler quilt. A quilt finishing class will be available following the last class.
